Ghana forward Jordan Ayew has joined Lorient from domestic rivals Marseille on a four-year contract.

Ayew found it difficult to hold down a regular spot in the Marseille XI alongside brother Andrew Ayew, and spent the second half of last season on loan at Sochaux.

The 22-year-old had offers to leave France but has decided that he would be best served at Lorient, who finished eighth in Ligue 1 last term, and he thinks that the Brittany based club is the "perfect place" for him.

"It was not a difficult choice because this is a fantastic and progressive club," Ayew told BBC Sport. "The club is ambitious and they have a great structure.

"The atmosphere is good, the facility is great and you have everything in place to focus on football. This is the perfect place for me, and I am really looking forward to joining the squad and continue in this competitive championship.

"All I want to do is give my best to the club and hopefully it will be a successful time for everyone associated with the team."

Ayew scored 15 goals for Marseille in 126 appearances, only 56 of which came as a starter. He has also scored five goals in 17 international games and was part of the Ghana squad at the 2014 World Cup.
